Birmingham Tattoo Raises Over £10,000 for Charity

The Birmingham Tattoo at the end of November raised a magnificent £10,290.50 for The Royal Star & Garter Homes for Disabled Ex-Service Men & Women.

The Tattoo Producer, Norman Rogerson MBE, presented the cheque to David Smyth, the Charity's Head of National Events, at The Royal Marines' 2008 Christmas Spectacular concert at Dudley Town Hall on Sunday 14th December.

David Smyth said "Although the Birmingham Tattoo has been taking place for 20 years, this is the first year that the Royal Star & Garter has been associated with it following the opening of our new care home in Solihull, West Midlands. It is a truly spectacular event and its military associations admirably complement those of our Charity. The Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines Plymouth were a major feature of the Tattoo and it is therefore most appropriate that the presentation of this generous cheque takes place at their Christmas concert. We are very grateful to Norman Rogerson and to all the members of the Tattoo audience - many of whom are also here tonight - for their kind contributions to our Charity."
