Double Celebration as The Royal Star & Garter Homes are Awarded Top Quality Rating
The Royal Star & Garter Homes' 92nd birthday proved to be a
double celebration with the announcement that the Commission for Social
Care Inspection (CSCI) has awarded the Charity an "Excellent" 3 star
quality rating - the top rating possible.
CSCI is an independent
organisation set up by the Government to promote improvements in social
care and stamp out bad practice. It regularly monitors standards in
care homes with unannounced inspections, and 2008 sees the introduction
by CSCI of quality ratings for all care providers, with three stars
being the highest grade attainable.
Announcing the 3-star
quality rating at The Royal Star & Garter's Founder's Day party for
residents and staff today and attended by the Mayor of Richmond,
Councillor Marc Cranfield-Adams, the Charity's Chairman, Vice Admiral
Sir John Dunt, said "Throughout our 92-year history we have always
prided ourselves on providing the very best nursing and therapeutic
care for our disabled, ex-Service residents in a homely and comfortable
environment. To have this recognised by CSCI is extremely gratifying,
and reflects the high standards we set ourselves and the hard work and
enthusiasm which the staff bring to their jobs. It is an excellent
basis on which to move forward with our plans to build new, modern
homes which we hope will include a new home at Hampton Court Station
for our present residents."
The Charity is currently seeking
planning permission to develop a new state-of-the-art home for 60
ex-Service people at the superb Hampton Court Station site beside the
River Thames. Meanwhile, the first new Royal Star & Garter Home is
due to open in Solihull, West Midlands, this summer.
