Residents at the Royal Star & Garter

Nursing Care & Therapies

Nursing Care and TherapiesNursing and care staff are highly trained and the Homes are exceptionally well-equipped, ensuring safety and comfort. After a full assessment, a care plan will be developed by our nursing and therapy teams in consultation with the individual, and their family if appropriate.

Nursing and Social Care is available for a wide range of medical conditions and physical disabilities. We are also able to provide special diets to meet a wide variety of needs.

Physiotherapy when needed can be provided in the residents own living area or in the specialist therapy room. The visiting speech and language therapists work with speech impaired residents on a one-to-one basis and through group sessions to improve communication with friends, family and staff. The therapists also work with residents who have swallowing difficulties as well as providing a regular clinic with an audiologist. A visiting Occupational Therapist works with residents to identify whether any adaptations such as adapted cutlery can assist in greater independence.

We are able to provide short breaks for applicants to come for a temporary stay, usually for a week or two, perhaps to give their carers a break. Our qualified staff will be happy to discuss specific needs and of course all social activities are available to short break residents.

The Homes are regularly inspected by The Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) who registers, inspects and reports on social care services in England. We have regularly exceeded minimum standards required by CSCI during both scheduled and unscheduled inspections and we continuously strive to ensure our standards are kept high.
