Eligibility

To live in a Royal Star & Garter Home you will have served in Her Majesty's Armed Forces or be the widow(er) spouse, or civil partner of anyone who has Served. This includes the regular Armed Forces, Territorial or Reserve Forces, National Service, UK Merchant Seafaring Veterans and the Royal Irish Regiment. Our residents are generally older people with varying degrees of disability requiring nursing care. Injury or illness resulting in disability need not have been caused through active Service. You can find out about all aspects of the care we offer throughout this section of the website.

Unfortunately, the Charity is not able to look after:

  • Auxiliary Fire Service and Home Guard.
  • Those with a history of violent or aggressive behaviour, alcoholism or drug abuse.

Every applicant is assessed on an individual basis to decide whether their clinical and care needs can be met.

Please note:

Unfortunately, due to the constraints of the building at our current Richmond Home, we are unable to safely care for residents with dementia. We can however offer this care in our Solihull Home in the specialist Roundel Wing for residents with dementia. We are also unable to care for those who are Registered blind in our current Richmond Home however we are again able to offer this care in our Solihull Home.
