Nursing Care & Therapies

Nursing Care

Our well trained and motivated staff have genuine respect for older people and work hard to promote health and maintain wellbeing, offering 24 hour support to all residents. Combined with this, our exceptionally well-equipped homes and the superb facilities ensure residents' comfort, enjoyment and safety at all times.

After an initial full assessment, our staff provide support according to each individually agreed care plan which is regularly monitored and updated.

Therapies

Additional benefits can be gained from physiotherapy and speech and language therapy. Physiotherapy, when needed, can be provided in the resident's own living area or in the specialist therapy room. The visiting speech and language therapists work with speech impaired residents on a one-to-one basis and through group sessions to improve communication with friends, family and staff. The therapists also work with residents who have swallowing difficulties as well as providing a regular clinic with an audiologist.

Services from visiting health care professionals such as GPs and a Dietician are available and residents are supported in accessing other health services outside of the homes.

We are also able to provide short breaks for applicants to come for a temporary stay, usually for a week or two, perhaps to give their carers a break. Our qualified staff will be happy to discuss specific needs and of course all social activities are available to short break residents.

Quality Care

The homes are regularly inspected by The Care Quality Commission (CQC) which registers, inspects and reports on social care services in England. We have regularly exceeded minimum standards required by the Commission during both scheduled and unscheduled inspections and we continuously strive to ensure our standards are kept high. 2008 saw the introduction by the Commission of quality ratings for all care providers, with three stars being the highest grade attainable. The Royal Star & Garter Homes are proud to have been awarded this top rating for its Richmond Home.
