THE ROYAL STAR & GARTER CELEBRATES ITS 91ST BIRTHDAY

Yesterday, residents at The Royal Star & Garter Home Richmond celebrated the Charity’s 91st Birthday with a concert and tea party. Special guests included the Mayor of Richmond, Councillor William Treble and Mr Graham Norris of the Lest We Forget Association., The Old Thyme Music Hall performers provided a wonderful array of classical and popular music from the WWII era for residents to enjoy.  Residents had tea and Birthday cake after the show, kindly organised by Heather Robinson, Activities & Welfare Manager and her staff.  Chief Executive, Lynn McDougall said, “It was a lovely occasion for residents to celebrate the Home’s Birthday.  The musicians put on such a good show and we are most grateful to the Lest We Forget Association for funding this event”.

Thanks go to the pianist and concert co-ordinator, Carol Wells, soprano - Linda Watts, old thyme music hall artiste - Lola Gibberd and to the very talented young banjo player - Mark Walsh.

About the Royal Star & Garter Charity - founded in 1916.

The Royal Star & Garter Charity has been caring for disabled ex-Service personnel since 1916.  The Charity offers the best in nursing and therapeutic care for anyone is physically disabled or incapacitated and has served in Her Majesty’s Forces.  There are also a wide variety of leisure activities available for our residents to enjoy, both internally and at outside venues.  The Royal Star & Garter Charity intends to build new homes, in the South West London area and elsewhere, in which to provide specialist care for the elderly disabled, and for those with dementia for whom there is very little provision at present.
