ROYAL STAR & GARTER RESIDENT PAT MERVYN-SMITH CELEBRATES HER 100TH BIRTHDAY
On March 17th, popular resident at The Royal Star & Garter Home, Pat Mervyn-Smith celebrated her 100th Birthday. Staff and residents joined Pat in the Queen’s Room for a Concert and Tea Party. Deputy Mayor of Richmond Cllr Clare Head also attended and presented Pat with a wonderful bouquet. Pat received not one but two Royal cards from our Patron, Her Majesty the Queen and from our President, HRH Princess Alexandra. Pat was delighted to receive in addition to the card, a personal letter from Princess Alexandra. After this, Pat was given flowers and gifts from residents and staff and showered with Birthday wishes.
The Not Forgotten Association organised a grand variety show by a group of piano-playing, singing and accordion-playing, Ukulele and violin-playing musicians! Thanks go to Carol and Andy Sagar, Janet Beale and Andy Eastwood for their talented performances and of course to The Not Forgotten Association.
The Royal Star & Garter Home, an independent registered charity based in Richmond, has been caring for disabled ex-Service personnel since 1916. The Charity offers the best in nursing and residential care plus a range of therapies. There are also a wide variety of leisure activities available for our residents to enjoy, both inside and outside the Home. In future years, The Royal Star & Garter Charity intends to build new homes, in the Richmond area and elsewhere, in which to provide specialist care for the elderly disabled, and for those with dementia for whom there is very little provision at present.
