Charity has created a wonderful coffee table book charting its rich and
fascinating history since 1916. This hard-back, full colour book entitled
‘The Home on the Hill’
also records the history of the various buildings on the site spanning 3 centuries from coaching inn to grand hotel and is being sold to raise funds for the Charity
and play a vital part in celebrating the rich heritage of the Charity.
This superb book includes many fascinating and historical photographs, etchings and pictures from the Home’s extensive archives… many of which have never been shown before. The book also draws on archive material written by residents and staff themselves and it is their testimony that provides a captivating insight into life at the Home over the past 90 years.

Johnny Franks first began entertaining audiences with his unique flair during World War II and he hasn’t stopped since! In fact, he has just released a new CD with all royalties being generously donated to charity.
Johnny is a familiar face at The Royal Star & Garter Home in Richmond as he used to visit to entertain residents during the 70s and 80s with fellow entertainer Les Brown. Johnny and Les delighted residents with cabaret, comedy and musical performances including Johnny’s well loved sing-a-longs from the 40s such as those on his new CD.
His new CD features 38 well-known songs such as 'You are my Sunshine', 'Bye Bye Blackbird' and 'Hello Dolly'. The CD is available now, priced just £10 including p&p, with £1 from every sale being kindly donated to The Royal Star & Garter Home.
