The Surbiton Home

CGI View from Upper Brighton Road

We are delighted that our second new home, which will replace the current Richmond Home, is being built in Surbiton.  In January 2012 the contractors, Morgan Sindall, started work on the site in Langley Avenue, a pleasant residential street moments from the comprehensive amenities and transport links of central Surbiton.  The site is close to the river and the historic market town of Kingston upon Thames with its excellent range of shops, theatre, museum and other facilities for the residents to enjoy.  It is also only a little over five miles from the Richmond Home, making it convenient for residents, their families, staff and volunteers.  It is very fitting that as a Charity with a Royal Charter since 1979, our new London home should be located in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames.

Our Langley Avenue site is the ideal size to meet the Charity's requirements to accommodate the 60 residents who will move to the new building.  Full implementable planning permission for a care home on the site was granted in October 2009, and allows for a three-storey building including underground parking. The site has many mature trees and will allow us to surround the building with a varied landscape to create a relaxing outdoor area and provide a secure sensory garden for residents with dementia.

We hope that the building will be completed in under 18 months ready to welcome the residents in the first half of 2013. Fortnightly updates on the progress at the site will be posted in the News & Publications section of this website on the New Homes Update page.
